Calling all novice women fly fishers! If you would be interested in gaining experience wading with a mentor, this event is for you! Come fish the famous AuSable River September 23 with us.
Participants will meet at Gate's Lodge, on the banks of the AuSable River, for a lesson in mending, presented by Mark Hendrickson, educator and guide. Mending is a skill that is best learned while actually on the water, so this is an excellent opportunity.
Following lunch (Gate's famous chicken salad wraps!), we will make sure everyone has the flies needed (extra cost for anything purchased at the shop) for an afternoon on the river. Heading out in groups of one mentor to each two novice anglers, we will spend the afternoon fishing. While on the river you will learn more about safe wading, fly selection, reading the river, and how to release a fish (hopefully).
After the fishing, people who wish may join us at Gray Rock for food, beverages, and fish stories (extra cost).
