June 3. Waders in the Water- Real life training for DNR data collection

Updated: May 26, 2023

Even if you were unable to attend the training provided on May 3, you are still encouraged to work with us as we build on the DNR's data base for the Rifle River. Following a protocol; collecting data on macroinverbrates, flow rate, and habitat at the sites selected by April Simmons, DNR Fisheries Management Biologist, will help develop better and more efficient plans for improving our home waters.

We are holding a practice session/training to fine tune our skills before the real work begins in July. Meet at the parking lot across from Grousehaven Campground in the Rifle River Recreation Campground at 10:00, on Saturday, June 3. We will travel a short distance to the training site. Come prepared to get into the water; all other supplies will be provided.

If you want to be a part of this project, please email us at president@mershon-neumanntu.org so you are included in the work schedule. By agreeing to participate you are committing to 2-3 hours working in the river, with a team of 2-6 people, for each segment you work on.
