Thirty five youth and their families enjoyed learning about fishing and conservation at the free event hosted by Saginaw County 4H.
The Mershon-Neumann Heritage Chapter taught casting and fly tying as participants caught felt fish and made wooley bugger pins. Not just the kids enjoyed the activities....many of the parents wanted to try their hand at learning to cast. More than one adult left sporting a stylish pin!
Other stations included learning how to identify fish and which ones are legal to keep, how to wash your boat to reduce the spread of invasive species, knot tying and tackle crafting, and how the DNR captures fish for fish study. The evening ended by having all the kids go fishing on the lake at Haithco Park.
